Full Day Serengeti Safari
Duration 1 day

Venture beyond the Central Serengeti to reach the Western Corridor or the Ndutu area with a packed bush lunch and extended game viewing.

The full-day safari is for guests who want to go deeper into the Serengeti ecosystem and explore areas that are beyond the range of a standard half-day game drive. Departing camp after an early breakfast, you will spend the entire day in the bush with a packed picnic lunch, covering significant ground across some of the most remote and rewarding wildlife areas in the park.

Depending on the season and current wildlife movements, your guide will choose between several routes. From June through October, the Western Corridor — a dramatic landscape of grassy plains cut by the Grumeti River — offers the chance to witness river crossings as the migration herds encounter crocodile-infested waters. The Grumeti area also supports excellent resident populations of lion, hippo, and the impressive roan antelope. During the wet season from December to March, a drive south to the Ndutu area places you in the calving grounds, where hundreds of thousands of wildebeest give birth in a brief, intense period that attracts every predator for miles.

Lunch is served at a scenic spot chosen by your guide — perhaps beside a hippo pool, under a large sausage tree, or on a hilltop with views stretching to the rim of the Ngorongoro Highlands. The return journey to camp offers different light and new opportunities for sightings, and it is not uncommon for the most memorable encounter of the day to occur in the final hour of golden afternoon light. Full-day safaris return to camp by around 5:30 pm, in time for a hot shower and drinks before dinner under the Serengeti stars.
